Legal Interventions

At the heart of our mission lies a commitment to fostering a safer, more responsible society. Through strategic legal interventions, we’ve driven meaningful change and promoted road safety awareness pan-India. Our approach has yielded significant milestones, from stricter laws against drunk driving to introducing road safety education in schools. We’ve successfully pushed for amendments to the Motor Vehicle Act, mandated warning labels on alcohol bottles, and enforced age checks at points of sale. Our efforts aim to create a more informed, responsible community, reducing accidents and saving lives, promoting a culture of road safety, inspiring positive behavioral change, and ultimately, building a safer India for all.

Key Achievements

  • Stronger Fines for Drunk Driving: CADD’s petitions led to a significant increase in the drunk driving fine from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000.
  • Road Safety Education in Schools: CADD successfully advocated for road safety to be included in school curriculums nationwide.
  • Compulsory Alcohol Warning Labels: CADD’s PIL led to a mandatory warning message against drunk driving on alcohol bottles across India.
  • Fighting Underage Drinking with Age Checks: CADD filed a PIL for mandatory age verification at alcohol points of sale to curb underage drinking.
  • Restricting Public Drinking: CADD’s efforts resulted in fines for public drinking in states like Delhi and Maharashtra.
  • Blocking Doorstep Alcohol Delivery: CADD’s advocacy led to the halting of doorstep alcohol delivery across various states.

Our legal initiatives have brought about impactful changes in road safety and alcohol-related policies. Through strategic petitions and PILs, we’ve influenced legislation to increase penalties for drunk driving, introduce road safety education, enforce age checks at alcohol sales points, and implement mandatory warning labels on alcohol. These efforts have contributed to a safer, more responsible society, and we continue to work towards further reforms for public well-being.
